Experience a journey through Norwegian history and technology in Rjukan and exciting activities such as rafting and climbing in Geilo!
Rjukan
Rjukan is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with history and technology that gives students a deeper understanding of Norway’s role during the Industrial Revolution and World War II. From hiking the Saboteur Trail and experiencing the drama of the Heavy Water Campaign to exploring the Norwegian Industrial Workers’ Museum, students get curriculum-related experiences that provide both academic insight and lasting memories.
At Rjukan, we work with Tor Nicolaysen, who is a renowned mountain guide, storyteller and tourist host with deep roots in Rjukan’s rich history. He has personally known several of the saboteurs from the Tungtvannsaksjonen and has run Rjukan Fjellstue for many years. Tor is known for his engaging and knowledgeable guided tours in the footsteps of the saboteurs, where he shares unique insights and stories from World War II. His dedication to sharing local history has been recognized with the Lions Rjukan Honorary Award in 2016.
Tor will give a lecture after dinner on day 1, and is a guide on the Saboteur Trail on day 2.
At Rjukan, we’ll also end with a visit to the Norwegian Industrial Workers’ Museum, where we’ll have a close encounter with Norwegian industry and war history.

Geilo
After Rjukan, the journey continues to Geilo, where activities and action are in focus. The students get to challenge themselves with rafting and other exciting activities that strengthen cooperation and the class environment.
The program of activities can be adapted to your wishes and budget, here are our most popular activities in Geilo:

Day 1 school trip

Day 2 school trip
- 09:15: Departure by bus to Rjukan Fjellstue
- 09:30: Guided tour on the Saboteur Trail: Experience the Heavy Water Action through an exciting hike led by Tor Nicolaysen
- 14:00: Visit to the Norwegian Industrial Workers Museum, Vemork:
- 14:00 - 14:30: Guided tour outside: Operation Gunnerside
- 14:30 - 15:00: Tungtvannskjelleren
- 15:00 - 15:30: Film screening: "If Hitler Had the Bomb".
- 15:30 - 16:00: Explore exhibitions on your own
- 16:15: Departure to Geilo
- 19:00: Arrival and check-in at Geilo

Day 3 class trip
- 10:30: Departure by bus to Dagali
- 11:00: Wilderness Day. A complete outdoor day with exciting and fun activities such as:
- Rafting on Numedalslågen
- Hot tub in the wilderness camp
- Paintball on our forest arena and team building activities
- Bus back to accommodation
- 18:30: Dinner at the chosen accommodation
Day 4 class trip
- 11:00: Check out and departure by bus home

In Rjukan, our school classes stay centrally at Birkelunden Bed & Breakfast.
In Geilo, several hotels offer accommodation at Vestlia Resort, Bardøla Fjelltun, Geilolia Hyttetun and Torsetlia.
If you book full board, the following meals are included:
- Arrival day: Noon
- Living days: Breakfast, packed lunch and dinner
- Departure day: Breakfast and packed lunch
Notes: Breakfast + packed lunch on the day of arrival and dinner on the day of departure are not included. If you have an early arrival or late departure, you may want to budget for extra meals.
